Why Your Book Still Isn’t Done—And What to Do About It

Uncategorized Jun 11, 2025

Let me ask you a question:
Have you started writing your book, but somehow found yourself stuck around chapter two or three… again?

If you’ve been making minimal progress, battling perfectionism, or constantly waiting for the “right time,” you are not alone.
In fact, I see this all the time with the leaders, experts, and high-achievers I coach.

But here’s the truth: Your book isn’t unfinished because you’re unqualified. It’s unfinished because of one (or more) of these seven reasons. And I’m going to walk you through each of them—so you can finally get unstuck and finish strong.

1. You’re Overthinking the Process

Let’s start with the big one: perfectionism.
If you’re editing as you write, rereading every paragraph, and obsessing over every sentence—it’s no wonder you’re stuck. That’s not writing. That’s micromanaging.

Remember, your first draft is supposed to be rough. It’s called a rough draft for a reason! You don’t need to have it all figured out on page one. Just get your thoughts, stories, and strategies out. Write now, edit later.

2. You Don’t Have a Clear Plan

Too many people try to “freestyle” their book, jotting things down in journals and phone notes with no real structure. That creative chaos might work for brainstorming, but not for completing a manuscript.

Without a roadmap, you will get lost.
That’s why I created the Signature Book Blueprint, and it’s the very first thing we do at the 7-Figure Bestseller Summit. Your blueprint is the key to organizing your thoughts, outlining your chapters, and staying focused from start to finish.

3. You’re Waiting for Inspiration

Let me be honest: inspiration is unreliable.
If I waited to feel inspired before working out, I’d never go to the gym. The same goes for writing. You have to treat it like a commitment—not a mood.

Discipline beats motivation every time.
So stop waiting to feel ready, and start showing up even when you don’t feel like it.

4. You’re Afraid of Being Judged

This one hits deep.
You might not even realize it, but fear of judgment could be paralyzing your progress. Fear of what your coworkers, family, or followers might say.

But here’s what I tell my clients:
Validation is for parking—not for your purpose.
You don’t need approval to write your book. You need courage. Because your book isn’t for the people who may criticize it—it’s for the people who need it to heal, grow, or break through.

5. You’re Trying to Do It Alone

Yes, writing can be a solo task. But it doesn’t mean you have to do it in isolation.
You need support, structure, and sometimes a little push. That’s where an accountability partner, a writing coach, or a community like the 7-Figure Bestseller Summit can make all the difference.

When you see others doing what you want to do, it becomes real—and possible.

6. You’re Not Prioritizing It

Here’s the hard truth: if your writing isn’t on your calendar, it’s not a priority.
I know you’ve got a full plate. I do too. I’m raising kids, attending games, running businesses—but if your book is going to get done, you have to block out the time, protect it, and treat it like it matters.

Sometimes that means waking up earlier or adjusting your weekend plans. It’s not forever—it’s just for this season.

7. You’re Burned Out

Let’s not ignore this.
If you’re mentally drained and emotionally exhausted, you can’t write clearly. Creativity can’t flow from an empty vessel.

Rest is work too.
Sometimes the most productive thing you can do is pause. Take care of your body, your mind, your spirit. Then come back refreshed and ready to release what God has placed inside of you.

Your Book Can Still Be Finished

Even if you’ve been sitting on your manuscript for months or years—it’s not too late.
I’ve helped hundreds of authors complete and publish their books in just 12 weeks with the right structure, accountability, and support.

So if you’re tired of talking about your book and ready to actually finish it…
Join me in Alpharetta, GA for the 7-Figure Bestseller Summit on Saturday, July 12, 2025.
It’s a one-day, live implementation event where we’ll build your book blueprint and help you map out the business you’ll build from your story.
